Better Syrian - Egyptian relations of understanding

The Kuwaiti daily al-Anbaa quoted well-informed sources in Damascus as saying that the Syrian- Egyptian relations have resumed their usual understanding towards causes of destiny which are of concern to Arab security, especially the Arab - Israeli conflict and the peace process.

The sources asserted that there were undeclared exchanged visits and contacts held by officials from the two states in the recent past that resulted in making clear certain matters on the nature of the inclination toward consultation pursued by Cairo and Damascus.

The Kuwaiti daily added that these contacts resulted in restoring the spirit of understanding that often prevailed in past years between the two states.

The sources stated that Israeli intelligence circles have recently tried to portray what had surfaced as a difference in viewpoints between Damascus and Cairo and tried to escalate this "coolness" through deepening doubts in certain Egyptian diplomacy mechanisms concerning maintaining a solution on all Middle East peace tracks.

The Kuwaiti paper said that observers see the return of warmth to Syrian - Egyptian relations and their clear strategic vision toward the current battle of peace is of no less importance and effectiveness than the unity of the military front in the battle for liberation during the October War of 1973.
