Yemeni university graduates demonstrate for jobs
Yemen, Economics, 10/27/1999
Hundreds of Yemeni university graduates held demonstrations on Monday in protest of not ensuring job opportunities for them.
AFP quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the graduates in various parts of Yemen raised banners calling on the government to provide job vacancies in the sectors of oil and education.
Yemen, which to a great extent relies on oil revenues, has minimized state job vacancies in the framework of an economic reform program launched in 1995 at the support of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
