Jordan-China, Politics, 10/26/1999

King Abdullah II of Jordan has asserted his desire to develop ties of cooperation with China. This was expressed during the meeting held between the King and Chinese Defense Minister Gen. Chi Haotian.

The official Jordanian news agency, Petra, said the Jordanian king expressed his hope to meet "with the Chinese president during his forthcoming visit to China, a visit which will constitute an important frame in consolidation of cooperation relations between the two countries."

On Saturday, the Chinese minister started a visit to Jordan which will last for several days in the framework of a tour of the region, which covered Syria and Israel.

The Chinese defense minister also met with Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh, who also holds the post of defense minister and discussed with him means of strengthening bilateral relations, especially in military areas.
