Fatah denounces Algerian President's statements over Israel
Algeria, Politics, 10/26/1999
The central committee of the Palestinian national liberation Front Fatah has denounced the repeated statements made by the Algerian President Abdul Aziz Bouteflika following his shaking hand with the Israeli prime Minister Ehud Barak, and announcing his readiness to establish relations with the Israel.
Fatah considered this attitude from the Algerian President as a " running towards normalization and a stab to the Arab stand and its forces which reject the normalization process."
In a statement issued in Damascus on Monday, the committee said that these stances and statements are in contradiction with Algeria's national interests and constitutes a grave insult to the people of Algeria who fought colonialism for 130 years, noting that the Algerian people still stand beside the cause of Palestine and believe in the unity of the Arab nation.
The statement stressed that the Algerian people will not accept this attitude ( by the Algerian President) which is damaging to the cause of Palestine and the interests of the Algerian people.
