Regional-Israel, Politics, 10/26/1999
The International Islamic Council strongly condemned here Monday Israeli insult against Muslims all over the world by allowing an Israeli liquor company to place a sticker of Jerusalem (Al-Quds) logo including Al-Aqsa Mosque on its liquor bottles.
The council called this act an insult to Muslims and to all Muslim beliefs and an intimidation of all Muslims worldwide.
Jerusalem is one of the most sacred cities to Muslims and wrong depictions are considered offensive.
The incident with the sticker comes only a brief time after the Walt Disney company was warned by the international Muslim communities that it would be blacklisted if "the village 2000" exhibition in the us allowed a showing of an Israeli film which depicts Jerusalem as capital of Israel.
Walt Disney negotiated this issue with all Muslim communities and managed to settle for a Palestinian chamber at the exhibition.
This incident also falls within the mist of final peace process negotiations, where Jerusalem issue will be discussed.
