Indyk due to visit Cairo on Wednesday
Egypt-USA, Politics, 10/25/1999
US Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs Martin Indyk is due to start his visit to Cairo on Wednesday coming from Tel Aviv in his tour of the area.
Indyk will discuss during the visit the latest developments in the peace process on the Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese tracks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa, Osama El-Baz, the Egyptian president's counselor for political affairs and with Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid.
Indyk enjoys strong friendships with both Arab and Israeli officials, a matter, which urged Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak to request Indyk's reappointment as the US ambassador in Tel Aviv.
