Damascus hosts Euro-Mediterranean cooperation symposium

A symposium on the European-Mediterranean heritage of cooperation is to open today in Damascus.

The two-day symposium is being held by the Syrian general directorate for antiquities and museums with the collaboration of the EU mission in Damascus at the National Museum in Damascus.

The participants in the symposium will discuss heritage projects in over 20 Mediterranean countries, the implementation of these projects, the results of the first year of European-Mediterranean heritage projects and the projects themselves. They will also discuss projects in which Syria takes part, relating mainly to maintenance, training and museums.

Some fifty participants are taking part from Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Palestine, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey, Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Syria.
