Floods in Lebanon

Two persons were killed in Beirut on Sunday in a thunderstorm which hit the capital and resulted in large material losses.

The state-run Lebanese television said that the heavy rainfall for two hours accompanied by strong winds resulted in water covering low apartments and cars and killing trees.

The television report said that one young man died from an electric shock while trying to rescue his mother who was besieged by the floating waters in "Wata al-Mseitbeh," adding that another young man in the same suburb was also killed as he was dragged by the waters.
