European Parliament values bold and positive reforms by Moroccan king
Morocco-European Union, Politics, 10/22/1999

The European Parliament (EP) does appreciate the "very bold and positive" reforms operated by King Mohammed VI since his coming to power, said EP chairwoman Nicole Fontaine.

Fontaine told the French TV5 thursday that the reforms have been perceived "very positively" and that talks with Moroccan Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi would enhance, in a very marked manner, cooperation with the kingdom, and Algeria and Tunisia at large.

Reporting on the colloquy "Morocco-EU: A Shared Fate" held in Brussels, TV5 said Youssoufi was in Europe's capital to give a new impetus to relations and underscored "political signs," showing Fontaine's and the EP interest in reforms launched by the sovereign, such as the warm welcome Youssoufi was met with at the Parliament and the lengthy private meeting that followed with Ms Fontaine.
