Palestinian journalists appeal to Arafat to reopen television station

The union of Palestinian journalists appealed to Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to issue instructions to reopen El-Roah TV in the city of Bethlehem in the West Bank to assure the rule of law in the relations between the press and the executive powers.
The union's statement, issued yesterday, urged the general union of Arab journalists, the international journalists union and the world press organization to intervene to end this issue, which concerns 40 journalists employed by the station and aims at protecting press liberties and human rights.
