Large losses result from floods in 10 Sudanese states this year

Floods hit 10 Sudanese states this year, leading to great losses in 348 districts and villages as well as destroying 23,212 houses fully or partially with some deaths, injuries and the destruction of some service buildings in the education and health sectors.
In addition, damages were suffered by planted areas and animal resources in these states, according to a report presented by General Abd El-Reheem Hussien, the minister of interior, to the Cabinet in its meeting yesterday, headed by Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir.
The Cabinet asked for the creation of a permanent strategy for confronting disasters and raising the capabilities of the civil defense bodies, as well as providing the necessary resources for the prevention of floods.
