European optimism regarding European discussions on Algeria

Giorgio Napolitano, the head of the constitutional council for the European Parliament, said today that the coming discussions between the European Union delegation that will visit Algeria on November 1 will result in achieving progress between the two sides, especially after the union made sure of the difference between the nature of the Algerian economy and the economies of Tunisia and Morocco, which requires special handling that copes with Algeria's potentials.

Napolitano, an Italian who is currently visiting Algeria, said, "Italy will seek playing a role in these discussions to invigorate the partnership and achieve progress to make haste in merging Algeria in Barcelona's track."

Napolitano did not deny in his statement the difficulty related to the partnership effort, especially before the European Union's endeavor to join other European countries, a matter which stirred a large argument as some people wondered about the value of the ratification by the union to countries of the southern Mediterranean in the framework of the MEDA program, between the Mediterranean and European states, especially Algeria, which seeks to qualify its corporations and enhance its industries to be able to have equal privileges with the European ones.
