WFP condemns attack on aid workers in Somalia
Somalia-UN, Politics, 10/21/1999
The United Nations World Food Program condemned the shooting on Tuesday of two of its staff members in Somalia. The two, were not hurt. "These incidents are completely unacceptable," said Mohamed Zejjari, WFP Regional Director for Africa. "The riskier it is for our staff to deliver food, the worse it becomes for the people who really need it. We're not only concerned about the safety of our staff but also for those innocent Somalis who could go hungry because violence prevents us from reaching them."
