Lebanese Prime Minister Selim al-Hoss expressed his concern with following up on the health of the Lebanese girl Fatima Jafer, 16, who was transported yesterday by an ambulance from the International Red Cross from the Israeli-occupied border strip to a hospital in Seida city with amnesia after being exposed to a beating by the Israeli occupation troops with the ends of rifles and guns on October 18. The occupation troops arrested the girl from the occupied city of Aniata and handed her over to the international Red Cross with amnesia and unconscious after being exposed to beatings and torture. South Korean Foreign Minister Hong Sun-yong is scheduled to arrive in Cairo on November 11 for a three-day visit to Egypt, as he will hold discussions with Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa tackling bilateral relations between the two countries and exchanging points of view regarding regional and international issues of joint concern, said Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Nagi El-Ghateriki. He added, "The two ministers will discuss the joint projects between Egypt and South Korea and means of boosting economic cooperation in light of the results of President Mubarak's last visit to South Korea." Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh left Amman yesterday for the UK to join the Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah Bin al-Hussein, in an official visit to Spain that starts today and lasts for three days, after ending up his visit to the USA. Go

An official source at the general command of the Jordanian armed forces said that Jordan had not asked to buy Israeli light or heavy weapons or any military equipment from Israel. The Jordanian source told the London-based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily issued on Tuesday that news published by the Israeli daily Haartez on Monday on this matter was groundless. Go

Morocco has generated 50,000 new jobs since last March, the Moroccan employment minister disclosed. The jobs benefitted graduates of vocational training institutes, Khalid Alioua told the House of Representatives (lower house). Some 60% of the jobs were generated in the Rabat and Casablanca areas, which contributes to further impoverishing other regions, the minister said. Go

Arab police and security chiefs are currently holding their 23rd Congress to debate several issues including notably a new draft Arab strategy on crime prevention. Coordination between the Arab states regarding the items on the agenda of the 10th United Nations congress relating to the struggle against crime, the treatment of criminals and the humanitarian missions of police officers are also on the agenda. The Spanish gas distribution group "Gaz Natural SDG" said it was ready to invest $400 million in a natural gas distribution network in Morocco. The firm, which shared in the installation of the Maghreb-Europe gas-pipeline connecting Algeria to the southern Iberic peninsula via Morocco, targets the creation of 2,000 direct jobs and 10,000 indirect ones and the building up of three major gas channel supplies in industrial centers in major cities. Representatives of the World's major religions, including Islam, will meet this week in Geneva to launch "the Geneva Spiritual Call" against violence. The call, to be officially aired on Sunday at the Saint-Pierre Cathedral of Geneva, will appeal for peace and dialogue among relgions and decry all forms of intolerance and violence committed in the name of religion. The appeal will be made by representatives of Islam, Chritianity, Judaism and Budhism. Go

Turkish sources have asserted that Israel is exerting relentless efforts with the European states to accelerate the process of Turkey's joining the European Union. The Turkish Anatolia news agency quoted these sources as saying that Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy had dedicated the greatest part of his contacts with his European counterparts in Luxembourg last week to that purpose.
