Bouteflika chooses 11 ministers of the new Cabinet

The Algerian al-A-= newspaper reported yesterday that a parliamentary official said the government, which was expected to be announced last week, has already been formed with 26 ministers, some of which the president has chosen and the rest represent the parties that supported Bouteflika in his electoral campaign.

The source said that at present, Bouteflika has already chosen 11 ministers, while the other positions will be divided among the political parties that express their intention to join the new government.

Moreover, the source stated that the president's list includes old faces which were absent from the political arena following the events of October 1998, other faces that supported national reconciliation and got into in a confrontation with authorities since 1992 and others who support a radical solution.

Among the names reported as being on this list are Mohammed Shrief Mossedah, the former official of the prominent trusteeship of the Liberation Front Party; Saliem Saadi, the previous interior minister and the second official of the Republican National Alliance; Rida Malek, the former prime minister and the head of the Republican National Alliance; Abdel Hamid Mohri, the previous secretary general of the National Liberation Party; Abdel Aziz Belkadem, the former head of the public council; and Bu Allam, the former foreign minister and the People Assembly's member.
