Report: Al-Kabareiti thinks of quitting his post
Jordan, Politics, 10/19/1999
The Jordanian weekly al-Majd has stressed that the chairman of the Jordanian royal court, Abdul Karim al-Kabareiti, is thinking seriously and vocally of resigning his post after his disputes with Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh have increased.
The paper added, according to well-informed sources, that al-Kabareiti's intention to resign will be clear following his arrival in Amman from the trip on which he accompanies Jordan's King Abdullah II.
Press sources expressed their conviction that conflicts and differences between the two men are no longer bearable between al-Kabareiti and al-Rawabdeh, and are the main reason for al-Kabareiti to think seriously of giving his resignation.
The sources added that al-Kabareiti has the feeling that these differences which are no longer covert have an adverse impact on Jordan's general interests, due to the contradiction in taken decisions and the different viewpoints between him and al-Rawabdeh concerning several matters and policies, especially the current crisis with the Hamas movement and the Muslim Brothers group.
