Abdul Meguid meets Jerusalem fund official

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid received yesterday Wajih Hassan Qassem, the general manager of Jerusalem Fund (Bayt Al-Mal Al-Quds) in his first visit to Arab League headquarters since he assumed power in July 1998.

They exchanged opinions regarding supporting and enhancing the Jerusalem's Fund, which was established with the initiative of the late King Hassan II of Morocco in 1997 for the defense of the Arab and Islamic identity of Jerusalem against Israel's plans to judaize it, presenting aid to the Palestinians in the holy city and maintaining the holy Aqsa mosque and the other holy places and its civilizational, religious, cultural and constructional tradition. Occupied Jerusalem was annexed by Israel in 1967.

Qassem addressed a call to the formal Arab finance corporations and the non-governmental corporations to play their role in supporting the Jerusalem Fund so the fund can support and implement housing projects and repair houses in confronting Israeli practices toward the holy Jerusalem.
