Kuwaiti daily banned for 5 days

The Kuwaiti news agency KUNA said on Sunday that the Kuwaiti authorities has suspended the issuance of the Kuwaiti daily al-Seyassah for five days over publishing statements for an Islamic leader in which he strongly criticises the US and an Emir decree.

The Kuwaiti news agency quoted the Kuwaiti deputy Premier Muhammad Deif

Allah Sharar as saying that " the Cabinet has taken the decision ( for the five days suspension) due to what had been published by the said paper in underestimating the Emiri dignity and undermining the supreme national interests."

Kuwait sources said that the secretary general of the scientific Pre-destiny movement Hamid al-Ali might be brought before the court for to the statements he made in a discussion meeting during which he opposed the Emiri decree provides for giving women their full political rights.
