Italian Defense Minister Carlo Scognamiglio is to arrive today in Riyadh for a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia to fulfill the invitation of Saudi Defense Minister Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz. Official Saudi sources in Riyadh said Scognamiglio will hold two rounds of talks with Prince Sultan regarding enhancing military cooperation between the two countries and issues of joint concern, adding that Scognamiglio will discuss with the Saudi officials the situation in the area, the peace process in the Middle East and the international situation. The Palestinians expressed displeasure toward what they called Israeli procrastination regarding entering negotiations of the final status. The Palestinian Authority asked the Israeli government to specify quickly the names of the Israeli delegation's members to the final status negotiations. El-Tayeb Abd El-Reheem Amin, secretary general of the Palestinian side, said the Israeli Prime Minister is not concerned with the final status negotiations and is not taking the responsibility towards this. Israeli Premier Ehud Barak signed yesterday with Greek Defense Minister Apostolos-Athanasios Tsokhatzopoulos a rapport and a friendship agreement between the two countries.
