Hamas refuses any conditions for getting its detainees out of Jordan
Jordan-Palestine, Politics, 10/16/1999
Mousa Abu Marzouk, a member of the Hamas movement's political bureau, said any conditions from Jordan's government including getting the external movement's detainees are not accepted. He stressed the importance of allowing the movement's leaders to move freely among the Jordanian people.
Moreover, he expressed in his address to the first public assembly of the Palestinian organizations in Damascus, with the participation of the Lebanese Hizbullah, his hope that the release of Khaled Mashaal, the head of the movement's political bureau, and his detained colleagues now in Jordan will take place soon, describing the accusations against Mashaal as false.
On the other hand, thousands of demonstrators in Whdat camp, the biggest Palestinian camp in Jordan, yesterday expressed solidarity starting with the detainees of the Hamas movement in Jordan.
The peaceful demonstration ended without any friction, and the Muslim Brotherhood group, which participated in the demonstration, received prior permission from the Jordanian Interior Ministry.
The demonstrators repeated slogans supporting Hamas, anti-Israel slogans, and criticism of the Jordanian government.
Abdel- Magied Zenbath, leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, denounced the governmental procedures against Hamas, asking the Jordanian authorities to let Hamas practice its political and informational activities against Israel.
