Moroccan-Italian economic ties to be debated in Bologna
Morocco-Italy, Economics, 10/16/1999
The Italian city of Bologna hosts on October 25 a day on economic ties between Morocco and Italy.
A delegation of businessmen and economic operators --led by minister of trade, industry and handicraft, Alami Tazi-- will participate in the event and discuss with Italian peers some 26 cooperation projects in the fields of car industry, textile, ready-to wear, shoes, pharmaceutical industry, and construction.
Italian ambassador to Rabat, Guido Martini, announced on Thursday that Italy is planning to finance $ 200 million worth of projects in Morocco.
The diplomat made the announcement in Casablanca while he was making a presentation on the Bologna agriculture fair to be held next November 13-17.
He added that talks were being carried on between the two countries on the swapping of Morocco's debt to Italy.
Morocco is Italy's 4th trade partner. Moroccan exports to Italy are made up mainly of fertilizers, fresh fish and garments, while imports are made up mostly of cars, machinery and various industrial tools.
