Radi winds up visit to Berlin
Morocco-International, Politics, 10/16/1999
The speaker of the Moroccan house of representatives (lower house), Abdelouahed Radi, left Berlin this Saturday noon after he led the Moroccan delegation to the 102nd session of the International Parliamentary Union, held October 10-16.
Radi, who held sidelines meetings with several participating delegations, told MAP's bureau in Berlin that his interlocutors have been impressed by the latest measures adopted by King Mohammed VI.
He said he had discussed the evolution underway in Morocco, mainly in matters of human rights, with several delegations, including the new president of the Union, Mrs Najma Heptullah, speaker of the Indian parliament, and speaker of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Thierse.
The human rights-related problems have all been settled, and this enhances Morocco's credibility and improves its image among nations, Radi said.
A member of the Moroccan delegation attended on Friday afternoon a meeting of a working group of the newly set up union of Islamic countries' parliaments.
The group, which is trying to set up the legal and organizational structures of the union, decided to convene a meeting in Bahrain within two months.
The Moroccan delegation also conferred with the head of the French delegation Michel Vauzelle whose country is to host in the coming months a meeting of the parliamentary committee for security and cooperation in the Mediterranean.
