Youssoufi: Food, water resources, vital tool for Arab states' sustained development
Regional-Morocco, Economics, 10/16/1999
Food and water resources are vital for the Arab world to reach a sustained development, Moroccan Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi said on Friday.
The Arab world's food security requires a cooperation and complementarity strategy, Youssoufi said in an address read on his behalf by the Moroccan territory development, environment, town-planning and housing minister, Mohamed Yazghi, before a colloquy in Casablanca on food, water security and sustained development in the Arab states.
For the prime minister, a sound exploitation of the Arab world's water riches is likely to help meet the region's growing needs. He also pleaded for investment in fisheries and processing industry to generate new resources.
