Royal visit to north will end region's marginalzation, minister
Morocco, Politics, 10/15/1999
The visit King Mohammed VI is currently paying to the northern provinces of the kingdom is evidence to the will to turn the page of the marginalization of the region, said Moroccan Minister of Communication Larbi Messari.
The royal visit is part of a new Mediterranean dimension of the kingdom, based on a strategic vision of a new, modern Morocco whose foundations are consolidated by the sovereign, Messari told MAP.
The king's tour in the north is neither a juncture nor a protocol visit. It is full of highly significant symbols as to the strategy defined by the monarch, Messari said.
The Moroccan official underlined the paramount importance of the development projects launched by the sovereign. These projects, he said, will give a new momentum to the development of this part of the kingdom and enable it to fully play its role as Morocco's gate to Europe.
King Mohammed VI is currently on a 10-day tour in several northern provinces and cities to launch large-scale socio-economic development projects.
