Iraqi paper denies Qusai assumed authorities assigned to Ezzat al-Douri
Iraq, Politics, 10/15/1999
The Iraqi daily Babel, whose editor-in-chief is Uday Saddam Hussein, has ridiculed an announcement by an Iraqi opposition party on Monday that President Saddam Hussein has assigned his second son, Qusai, great responsibilities in the ruling party following the deteriorated health condition of the deputy chairman of the revolution's leadership council, Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri.
The Iraqi paper added in its comment on the statement released by the higher council of the Islamic revolution, under a title "They name themselves opposition?" that the London-based al-Hayat daily said in August that Qusai (33) was assigned two posts that had been held by Ezzat Ibrahim.
The two posts are the post of the deputy chairman of the revolution's leadership council and the leadership of the northern district in the country.
