Arab League denounces Israel's new 'blackmail' campaign
Regional, Politics, 10/15/1999
The Arab League has condemned 'the blackmail campaign 'being waged by the Israeli government on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks and in its talks with the Palestinians.
AL Assistant Secretary General for Foreign Affairs Muhammad Zakaraya Ismael said Israel is not satisfied with achieving "its greedy demands in the Sharm esh-Sheikh accord" and its illegal settlement expansion in the West Bank, but also in trying to blackmail Syria through its "impossible" conditions, speaking on water sharing and encouraging settlement activities in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
Ismael indicated that "the blackmail campaign" is also carried out on the Lebanese track.
The AL official called on the Arab states to unify their ranks so as to withstand this Israeli policy.
