Egypt supports Russia in the cause of Chechnya

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said the Egyptian supports the Russian trend towards settling the current crisis concerning Chechnya.

Within his replies to reporters' questions yesterday, he said the message of the Russian foreign minister which he delivered it during his meeting which the Russian envoy, Vladimir Polyacor is speaking about the political solution and settlement as a main aim of the Russian diplomacy, confirming the Egyptian support for this initiative.

He added that what is required is that the two parties reach a political solution and avoid the use of force so that civilians don't become refugees a problem that has started to appear.

Moussa said that the refugee issue, especially with the arrival of winter, is considered an important matter that creates a great humanitarian problem, affirming that the important thing is the halt military operations.

He added that it is important to establish negotiations to reach a political settlement, which appeared to be the tendency of the Russian foreign minister.
