Morocco denies resumption of talks on fisheries with EU
Morocco-European Union, Economics, 10/14/1999
Morocco has denied the resumption Friday in Brussels of talks on fisheries with the European Union announced in some media.
Authorized sources in Rabat said Thursday the announced meeting in the European capital was never on the agenda.
The spanish news agency EFE reported a statement by fisheries minister Jesus Posada expressing his satisfaction at the agreement of EU ambassadors on resumption of fishery talks with the Kingdom.
The current fishing accord binding Morocco and Brussels comes to an end on november 30 of this year. Morocco said repeatedly it would not renew the agreement and had insisted during talks, four years ago, it was the last fishing accord with the European Union.
