Hawatemah for dialogue with the US
Palestine-USA, Politics, 10/14/1999

The Secretary General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Nayef Hawatemah, said on Wednesday that his front is interested in building a national relationship with Washington.

In a statement to the AFP, Hawatemah added that direct dialogue has not yet been initiated with Washington, saying, "The possibility of convening such a dialogue depends on the US administration and how it will implement US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's decision to lift the name of the front from the world list of terrorism."

Hawatemah continued, "The possibility of establishing a dialogue also depends on canceling another decision taken by the US President Bill Clinton in 1998, who listed the front as a terrorist organization in the Middle East."

He added that another round of inter-Palestinian talks with his group will be held early next month either in Cairo or in Amman.
