Switzerland improves relations with Libya

Switzerland has raised the level of its diplomatic representation with Libya from the level of charge de affairs to the ambassadorial level with the objective of improving relations between the two countries.
News reports in Bern quoted the spokeswoman for the Swiss Foreign Ministry, Yasmin Shatella, as saying that appointing Paul Koller (47), who has held the post of the charge de affairs at the Swiss embassy in Tripoli since 1997, to the post of an ambassador comes as a first step towards normalization of relations between the two countries.
Last April Switzerland suspended the sanctions imposed on Libya.
