Lebanese resistance escalates operations

Lebanese resistance forces on Sunday attacked the Israeli forces inside the Ballat position in the western sector of south Lebanon. In a statement, the resistance said one Lebanese resistance group shelled and rocketed the military position, which was directly hit, destroying one of its detachments.

Meanwhile, a Lebanese resistance group attacked, using rockets and machine guns, an Israeli infantry patrol close to the Kassaret al-Aroush military position inside the occupied part of south Lebanon. In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said casualties were inflicted on members of the patrol.

The statement added that two resistance groups simultaneously rocketed and machine gunned the Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army militia's positions in Beer Klaaab and Sujoud areas where soldiers manning the positions were directly hit.

Lebanese officials in front line towns in southern Lebanon confirmed the attacks but said there were no casualties. The Lebanese officials added that Israeli groups and South Lebanon Army militia retaliated by shelling the Lebanese villages facing the occupied zone. No casualties were reported from the retaliatory shelling.

Moreover, the Israeli occupation forces bombarded towns and villages in the western and central sectors of south Lebanon.

Lebanese security sources said the Israeli heavy artillery shelled Barachit, Kafra, Yater, Eita al-Jabal and Zibqin towns as well as al-Botoum hills and al-Qeseyeh valley.

The Lebanese sources added that shells hit the towns of Qabriha, Toulin, Majdal Soloum, al-Sawannah, Haris and Khirbet Soloum and al-Salouki valley.

The Israeli bombardment coincided with heavy machine gun fire by Israeli forces against roads leading to the target towns and villages, the Lebanese sources added.
