Shams Eddine mediation succeed in Jordan over Hamas
Jordan, Politics, 10/9/1999

The Jordanian daily al-Doustour said today quoting a Muslim brothers group in Jordan as stressing the success of the Chairman of the Higher Shiite council in Lebanon Sheikh Muhammad Mahdi Shams eddine in the question of the Hamas movement.

The paper said that immediately after arriving from Beirut, Sheikh Shams eddine will meet with member of the political bureau of the Hamas movement Mousa Abu Marzouk to acquaint him with the results of mediation he made with King Abdullah II of Jordan.

In this respect, the Jordanian daily quoted the media spokesman for the Muslim brothers group in Jordan Jamil Abu Baker as saying that Sheikh Shams Eddine told the leadership of the Muslim brothers that King Abdullah launched positive signals of accepting his mediation. Abu Baker expected that matters will proceed towards dealing with this matter according to the directives of the King who said that the government should settle the "problem with the Hamas movement."
