Opera Aida '99 to start on Tuesday

Performances of the opera Aida before the Giza pyramids will start on Tuesday and run for six days under the auspices of Suzanne Mubarak, the wife of the Egyptian president. These shows will be directed by Egyptian director Abdel Moneim Kamal, and 116 performers from the Cairo Opera and the Cairo Symphony Orchestra conducted by France's Partrick Fournillier and Italy's Giorgio Croci. 700 soldiers from the Egyptian police will also participate in scenes of this classic Opera.
