Vedrine and the Syrian peace track regarding Israel

French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine said, "I was surprised over the Israelis' desire for re-contacting Syria."
In an interview with the French Language "Europe 1" radio from Jerusalem, Vedrine said that the Syrians and the Israelis seemed not to have agreed yet on the basics for resuming contacts and that the Israelis started to wonder what the real intentions of President al-Assad are.
Vedrine, who is currently visiting Israel and the Palestinian territories said, "We have enough reasons to believe that Syria also considers it its strategic interest to reach an agreement over the Golan."
