The American University Hospital in Beirut on Thursday released a medical report on the health condition of Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa. The report stressed that the health condition of al-Sharaa is stable and good. It said that al-Sharaa could walk alone by himself and is expected to leave the hospital within three or four days. Go

Lebanese Minister of National Defense Ghazi Zaytar undertook yesterday staying firm in the face of Israel and resisting until the liberation of the lands. Zaytar stated that, "The Israeli aggressions on the south and the western Bekaa are not new and prove Israel's brutality." He added that Lebanon's choice is to stay firm in facing and resisiting Israel, adding that a comprehensive just peace remains Lebanon's choice through confirming the unity of destiny between Lebanon and Syria and the correlation of their tracks in the negotiations. The Egyptian - Turkish businessmen's council will convene its meetings in Cairo on November 15 - 18. A statement issued by the union of Egyptian industries today said the meeting will create a chance for the Turkish and Egyptian businessmen to hold bilateral talks about relations in the fields of business as well as to discuss the excellent opportunities for cooperation between the the two in the African states. The carrier "Libyan Arab Airlines" is buying 21 aircrafts from the European group "Airbus Industries," the Libyan news agency JANA reports. The purchase of A-320, A-330 and A-310 aircrafts will help update the LAA fleet, says the agency adding the procurement contract also provides for training and maintenance. Go

Africa's repeated bid to host the final rounds of the World Soccer Cup of the year 2006 is legitimate, said thursday Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi meeting African reporters and former soccer stars. Youssoufi told the delegation visiting the kingdom at the invitation of the Morocco-2006 Association that if elected, Morocco, which can properly host the event, will set up an African commission to provide transportation, welcome, accommodation and access to soccer fields for young people from all over africa. Graham Bowis, the UK ambassador in Cairo held a dinner banquet tonight to honor Egyptian students who finished their high studies in UK universities, in the framework of the scholarships, that was attended by officials and businessmen in the British cultural council and personnel of the UK embassy in Cairo. The Algerian daily al-Sahafa said that a gas pipeline which crosses the Mediterranean was damaged by the Armed Islamic Group, saying explosives were used and resulted in setting fire to the pipeline. The fire was extinguished by the civil service. Go

Morocco and Senegal have exchanged last summer a number of animal species to diversify their fauna potential. According to Senegalese daily Le Soleil, Morocco has donated to the Hann zoo in Senegal two dorcas gazelles, a baribal bear, two red deers, and two fallow-deers. The batch also included a number of birds. Senegal dispatched to Morocco twelve species including a crane, a crocodile, turtles, a spotted hyena, parrots and Gambian gooses. Go
