Morocco, Politics, 10/8/1999

Prime Minister Abderrahmane Youssoufi, in an unprecedented move, will make a government statement in the parliament which opens today its third session under the chairmanship of King Mohammed VI.

Minister in charge of the relations with parliament Mohamed Bouzoubaa said the statement draws a balance-sheet of government action and outlines general policy and short-term program.

Early this session, the government is braced to hand in 9 draft bills while 13 others are in the pipeline. The two houses will scrutinize major draft bills on labor code, the five-year development program, finance courts, environment protection, civil liberties and the penal law.
