Moroccan premier meets Manuel Chaves
Morocco-Spain, Politics, 10/7/1999

Moroccan Prime Minister Abderrahmane Youssoufi examined with the president of the Andalusia autonomous government, Manuel Chaves, means of enhancing exchanges and extending cooperation to tourism, equipment and infrastructures.

Youssoufi underlined the importance for the kingdom of preserving fisheries and their rational management to make of the sector a key factor in economic and social development.

Morocco and the European Union had agreed to an ultimate fishing accord on objective grounds, taking into account the need for a rational exploitation of sea resources, he said.

Talking to the media, Youssoufi said Morocco will look into EU proposals on fisheries in the coming talks while Chaves expressed understanding and respect for the Moroccan stand, saying Brussels should take into consideration both the kingdom's interests and those of the fishing activity of Andalusia.
