Accusations of involvement in Qatari coup attempt
Qatar, Politics, 10/7/1999
One eyewitness in the case of a coup attempt that took place in Qatar in 1996 on Wednesday accused Bahrain of facilitating the moves of the main person accused in this case, Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Hamad al-Thani, one of the Qatari ruler's cousins.
Eyewitness Ibrahim Sultan Mallullah, who used to work as a driver for the accused man, said before the higher criminal court in Doha that his employer "was moving abroad with the company of Bahraini guards" and that he met repeatedly with Arab presidents.
The chairman of the court, Masoud al-Amiri, has set October 10 as a date for the second session during which the testimony of Qatari Prime Minister Abdullah Bin Khaleifa al-Thani and Foreign Minister Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jaber al-Thani will be heard.
