Lebanese, Finnish presidents visit al-Sharaa in hospital

Lebanese President Emile Lahoud and Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari on Wednesday afternoon visited the American University Hospital in Beirut to be assured about the health condition of Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa. The two presidents expressed best wishes for al-Sharaa's good health and quick recovery for returning to his due role in the Middle East peace process.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Health Minister Dr. Karam Karam stressed that the health condition of al-Sharaa is continuously improving.

In a statement he made on Wednesday afternoon, the Lebanese minister said al-Sharaa will leave the American University hospital within less than one week.

Karam expected al-Sharaa to be in Damascus by the beginning of next week.

The Lebanese minister continued, "I talked with Mr. al-Sharaa, and he is in a good health," adding that the surgery was excellent and extending thanks to the whole medical teams for their high efficiency which was conducive to these results.
