Eight gunmen killed in Algeria

Algerian security forces killed eight gunmen during a mopping-up operation carried out in Djelfa province and in the heights of al-Zaamesha village in Mascara province.
The Algerian daily al-Youm said the armed groups killed one citizen in the suburbs of Hawamas mountain in Djelfa province.
For its part, the Algerian daily al-Khabar said that four members of the Algerian security forces were killed in the explosion of a bomb placed by the Armed Islamic Group on the road linking the towns of Basar and Shubet al-Amer.
The paper added that some 16 persons surrendered to the Algerian authorities to benefit from the national concord law.
