Five Moroccan youngsters in Saudi international Koran contest

Five Moroccan youngsters are taking part in the 21st international Koran recitation contest which opened in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday. A total of 177 contestants from 30 countries and 33 Islamic foundations are vying for a prize of $236,000 earmarked by the Saudi Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. The youngest participant is an 8-year old Brazilian who does not speak Arabic but succeeded in learning five surat (chapters) of the Koran.
