Morocco takes part in world road congress

Morocco is participating in the 21st world road congress taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The congress, held October 3 through 9, is gathering more than 3000 experts from some 100 countries.

Minister of Equipment Bouamor Taghouan who is heading the Moroccan delegation, made a presentation on Monday under the topic "can the privatization of road infrastructure contribute in speeding up road development in the 21st century?"

The presentation tackled the issue of basic infrastructure financing and expounded Morocco's experience in promoting road infrastructures and highways and in breaking the isolation of the rural world through the use of new financing mechanisms and the participation of the private sector.

The Moroccan official will also moderate a session on road transport sustained development.

Morocco is also participating in the exhibition held on the sidelines of the congress. The Moroccan stand displays the achievements in road and highway sectors and know how in the field of road networks management and exploitation.

The congress will discuss the orientations planned by the world road association for the coming four years. The 22nd congress will be held in Durban, South Africa, in 2003.
