Moussa asks Sudanese opposition to support Egyptian initiative for national rapport
Egypt-Sudan, Politics, 10/5/1999

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa asked the different Sudanese opposition assemblies and formations to create an adequate atmosphere for the initiatives raised to achieve national rapport in Sudan so these initiatives can be fruitful.

In answering reporters yesterday, Moussa expressed his hope that the Sudanese issue will move to a positive stage with a remarkable progress out of the existing initiatives, whether the Libyan - Egyptian initiative or the IGAD initiative.

He added that out of this came Egypt's stance regarding the subject of the explosion of a pipeline for exporting Sudanese petroleum and regarding the steps taken by the opposition, adding, "We want a better atmosphere for achieving a progress that serves the Sudanese issue as a whole, whether regarding Sudan's territorial integrity, discussion between the government and the opposition or easing the tensions surrounding this issue."
