On talks between al-Sharaa and Clinton
Syria-USA, Politics, 10/4/1999

The British news bulletin Mideast Mirror said in its Sunday issue that the talks held between Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa and the US President Bill Clinton were not decisive.

The bulletin added that Clinton met with al-Sharaa in Washington within the framework of a "dramatic move" to break the stalemate prevailing in the negotiations between Syria and Israel, but, "One hour of talks between the two sides was not so decisive."

The bulletin added that Clinton talked with al-Sharaa on means of solving pending issues between the Syrians and the Israelis in order to resume peace talks and reach a durable peace between the two sides. The US president made it clear that he is in continued contacts with Syria and Israel to bring them together to the negotiating table.
