Islamic countries call for Israeli pullout from the occupied Syrian Golan
Regional, Politics, 10/4/1999

The foreign ministers of the Islamic states have called for a complete Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Syrian Golan heights to the June 4, 1967 border lines. They also condemned Israel's refusal to abide by UN security council resolution 497 of 1981.

The foreign ministers of the Islamic countries also stressed in their final statement issued at the conclusion of their meeting on Friday night in New York that all measures taken by Israel in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights are null and void because these measures constitute a violation of the basis and principles of international law, especially the fourth Geneva Convention of 1949.

The Islamic countries also voiced their backing for the Middle East peace process according to the Madrid terms of reference on the grounds of UN Security Council resolutions 242, 338 and 435 and the land-for-peace formula.
