Cairo will host in April a two-day European- African summit aimed at discussing a host of issues of joint concern, the most prominent of which is the European debts owed by the continent's countries and converting these debts into European contributions to comprehensive development. Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Ibrahim Hassan said a fair for the African products will be held on this summit's margin, as well as bilateral meetings among businessmen and the organizations from the two continents. Iranian spiritual leader Ayattollah Khamanai intervened to finish a strong dispute between the two principal factions in the government concerning the play written by two students and regarded by the extremists as abusing to religion and urged in Friday's sermon in Tehran the two trends ( the other trend being reformer moderates) for reconciliation. Morocco will participate in a conference on cultural economies, that will open on Monday in Florence, Italy. The four-day conference, co-sponsored by the Italian Government, UNESCO and the World Bank, will debate issues pertaining to cultural economies resources part of the sustained development process. Japan has extended Morocco loans and donations worth $ 510 million for the purchase of equipment. The sum, earmarked by the Japanese Overseas Cooperation Fund, will be used to purchase water, highway and port equipment. Go

A delegation of Malaysian businessmen decided to visit Cairo in the second half of this month. The delegation will meet during the visit with Egyptian businessmen and officials in work organizations to discuss the opportunities for joint cooperation between the two countries. Go
