Moroccan official obtains Libyan distinction
Morocco-Libya, Politics, 10/2/1999

Speaker of the Moroccan Chamber of Advisors (upper house of parliament), Mohammed Jalal Essaid, obtained the Libyan "good offices" distinction at the Loyal festivities held in the north African country.

The festivities are hosted in honor of Arab and foreign figures who endeavored to lift the air embargo that was imposed on Libya.

Essaid, who took part in the festivities in his capacity as former chairman of the Arab Parliamentary Union, told the press upon arrival that he was carrying a message of consideration and fraternity from King Mohammed VI to Col. Moammar Gaddafi as well as the king's wishes of progress and prosperity to the Libyan people.

He also renewed Morocco's will to spare no effort to consolidate the ties of brotherhood binding it to Libya.

Both Morocco and Libya are member of the Arab Maghreb Union together with Algeria, Mauritania and Tunisia.
