Trial for two Kuwaiti women writers accused of spreading libertarianism

A Kuwaiti count will consider on November 10 a case against two Kuwaiti women writers, namely Lila Alothman and Alia Shoaeb, accused of spreading libertarianism and abusing religious values.

Alothman denied these accusations saying that the four Islamic persons who brought the charges agains her are not creative people to judge the writers for their creation.

The four raised the charges against Alothman and Shoaeb's right in 1996 as a result of what was included in writings and novels by the two writers from clauses regarded by the Islamist as violating proper behavior, urging adultery and going against Islamic convictions.

Furthermore, the accusers raised a charge against the Ministry of Information for giving a license for the publication of these novels and writings in Kuwait.

Alothman questioned tackling these charges by the Kuwaiti judiciary and said, "We were exposed to an investigation concerning these charges in the prosecution in 1996, and I imagined that the matter was finishd, but I am surprised by specifying a date for a trial recently."
