Israeli newspaper: Secret agreement among Egypt, Israel, Jordan, and Palestine on combating terrorism

The Israeli Yediot Ahronot newspaper said that the USA, Jordan, Israel, the Palestinian Authority and Egypt have reached a secret agreement for security cooperation in combating terrorism.

The newspaper ascribed what it said to Israeli political sources, but it didn't issue an official confirmation from any official of the five countries for its report.

Moreover, the newspaper said this agreement is centered around establishing joint cooperation in combating terrorism, and according to this agreement, the intelligence bodies in these countries will cooperate and exchange information to confront terrorist activities, especially the Islamic groups which oppose the peace process.

Meanwhile, the newspaper reported that an Israeli political source stated that Jordan's King Abdullah II is the one who suggested the idea and then raised it to Palestinian President Yasser Arafat two weeks ago, and consequently Arafat raised it to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and US President Bill Clinton.
