Russian minister condemns US raids on Iraq

Russian Minister of Energy Viktor Kalyuzhnyy on Friday denounced the US-British raids on Iraq and stressed his country's readiness to work for lifting the embargo imposed on Iraq.

In a press statement he made in Baghdad on Friday in the course of the Russian efforts to back the lifting of the sanctions imposed on Iraq, the Russian minister stated that all progressive states unify their stands with Russia in condemning the air strikes carried out by the US and British planes on Iraq.

The Russian minister also called on the Iraqi people to be steadfast and expressed hope for the success of the Iraqi people in withstanding the hardships and crisis resulting from the US embargo on Iraq.
